例如: a cup of tea 一杯茶
             a piece of news
             two pieces of paper 两张纸

Cake is a kind of food.
            These cakes are sweet.
如:We need various steels.
Our country is famous for tea.
        Two teas, please.
如:a glass of water 一杯水
        a piece o fadvice

切忌犯以下错误: meat, two tea, 应说a piece of meat, two cups oftea。
There is some milk in the glass.
Some food on the table goes bad.
3、能修饰不可数名词的词有:much, a little, little, a bit, some, any, a lot of, plenty of等,以此来表示不确定的数量。
        a little milk 一点牛奶

I bought two kilos of meat.
He ate three pieces of bread.
Would you like a cup of coffee?

英语中的关系代词有who, whom, whose, that, which, 它们是用来引导定语从句的。
This is the man who saved your son.
The man whom I met yesterday is Jim.
A child whose parents are dead is an orphan.
He wants a room whose window looks out over the sea.

1、that与which的用法区别:
She received an invitation from her boss, which came as a surprise.
The tool with which he is working is called a hammer.
(3)当先行词是下列不定代词或被它们修饰时much, little, none, all, few, every(thing), any(thing), no(thing)等时,通常用that:
如:There was little that the enemy could do but surrender.
All[Everything] that can be done must be done.
(4)当先行词有the very, the only, the same等修饰时,通常用that:
如:This is the only example that I know.
Those are the very words that he used.
This is the best dictionary that I've ever used.
The first thing that you should do is to work out a plan.
China is not the country(that) it was.
They talked about the persons and things that most impressed them.
Which is the course that we are to take?

2、that与who的用法区别:

All that[who] heard him were delighted.
Have you met anybody that[who] has been to Paris?
He is the only one among us that[who] knows Russian.
I made a speech on the men and things that I had seen abroad.
Who was it that won the World Cup in1982?
Tom is not the boy(that) he was.

1、as与which的用法区别
(1)引导限制性定语从句时,在such,as,thesame后只能用as,其他情况用which:
如:I never heard such stories as he tells.
It's the same story as I heard yesterday.
This is the photo which shows my house.
I live a long way from work, as [which] you know.
As is known to everybody, the moon travels round the earth once every month.
He went abroad, as[which] was expected.
He went abroad, which was unexpected. (不用as)
The river, which flows through London, is called the Thames. (不用as)
She has married again, as[which] seemed natural.
She has married again, which delighted us. (不用as)

Where's the girl who sells the tickets?
The author whom you criticized in your view has written a letter in reply.
The man(that, who, whom) you met just now is called Jim.
She brought with her three friends, none of whom I had ever met before.
This is Jack, who[whom] you haven't met before.

This task is extremely difficult.
        You're entirely wrong.

We discussed about the plan.
正:We discussed the plan.
Did he mention about the accident?
正:Did he mention the accident?
I saw her enter into the bank.
正:I saw her enter the bank.
He married with[to] a nurse.
正:He married a nurse.
How can contact with you?
正:How can contact you?
We should serve for the people heart and soul.
正:We should serve the people heart and soul.
Who controls over the factory?
正:Who controls the factory?
He has a great many of friends here. (比较a great number of)
正:He has a great many friends here.

This matter is difficult to deal. (deal with=处理)
正:This matter is difficult to deal with.
He is not a man to be depended.
正:He is not a man to be depended on.
He took a cup of tea, and went on the story.
正:He took a cup of tea, and wentonwiththestory.
My mother still regards me a child. (比较consider…as中的as可省略)
正:My mother still regards me as a child.
They insisted sending a car over to fetch us.
正:They insisted on sending a car over to fetch us.
What he says is worth listening.
正:What he said is worth listening to.

She called on his office yesterday. (call on+人,call at+地点)
正:She called at his office yesterday.
He is engaged with a nurse.
正:He is engaged to a nurse.
The sun rises from the east.

误:We are familiar to his character.
正:We are familiar with his character.
Help yourself with the fruit.
正:Help yourself to the fruit.

Are you interested in history?
        Don't worry about it.
No one can sing like her. (不能用like she)
He is good at telling stories.
In crossing the street he was run over.
We can't regard the matter as settled.
I take it for granted you have read the book.
He went out without being seen by the others.
He was not satisfied with what she said.
I'm worried about where he is.
He paid no attention to that she was poor.
正:He paid no attention to the fact that she was poor.
I know nothing about him except that he lives next door./I know nothing about him except for the fact that he lives next door.
I had no choice but to wait.
He wanted nothing but to stay there.
They did nothing but complain.
He never did anything but watch TV.
:(1)介词后接不定式的情形通常只见于but, except等极个别个词。该不定式有时带to,有时不带to,其区别是:若其前出现了动词do,其后的不定式通常不带to;
He gave me some advice on how to do it.
Her pronunciation is far from perfect.
In short, we must be prepared.
Things have gone from bad to worse.
He regarded the situationas(being) serious.
His work is far from(being) satisfactory.
(2)有些“介词+形容词”的结构已构成固定搭配:in full全部地,全面地,无省略地; in private私下地,秘密地; in particular特别地;in general一般地,通常地,概括地; in brief 简言之;in short总之,简言之; in vain徒然地,徒劳无益地;for fee免费地,无偿地; for certain肯定地,确切地;for sure肯定地,确切地; for short为了简短,简称;atl arge自由自在地,逍遥法外; by far…
I can't stay for long.
It's too hot in here.

She came in with a book in her hand.
All the afternoon he worked with the door locked.

He was with a friend.
        Health is above wealth.
This knife is for cutting bread.
His absence is because of the rain.
正:His absence is due to the rain.
It is because of hard work.
Don't touch it with your hands.
Did you do this by design or by accident?

如:Between6 and 7 suits me.
After the exams is the time to relax.
如:—When are we going to have the next meeting?
—On Tuesday may be convenient.
Meeting during the vacation may be convenient.

如:work-worked   play-played  wanted-wanted  act-acted
如:live-lived     move-moved  taste-tasted    hope-hoped
如:study-studied copy-copied  cry-cried   carry-carried
如:go-went     make-made     get-got    buy-bought   come-came    fly-flew

如:begin—began,drink—drank,give—gave,ring—rang,sing—sang,sit—sat,swim—swam
如:drive—drove,ride—rode,write—wrote
如:draw—drew,grow—grew,know—knew,throw—threw(动词show除外,show—showed)
如:get—got,forget—forgot
如:feed—fed,meet—met
如keep—kept,sleep—slept,sweep—swept
如:break—broke,speak—spoke
如:sell—sold,tell—told
如:stand—stood,understand—understood
如:bring—brought,buy—bought,think—thought,catch—caught,teach—taught
如:can—could,shall—should,will—would
如:come—came,become—became
如:hear〔hi〕—heard〔h:d〕,say〔sei〕—said〔sed〕,mean〔mi:n〕—meant〔ment〕
如: let—let,must—must,put—put,read—read〔red〕
如:am,is—was,are—were,build—built,do—did,eat—ate,fall—fell,feel—felt,find—found,fly—flew,
go—went,have/has—had,hold—held,leave—left,make—made,may—might,run—ran,see—saw,take—took

如:want→wanted(要)need→needed(需要)
如:help→helped(帮助)laugh→laughed(笑)look→looked(看) kiss→kissed(吻)wash→washed(洗)watch→watched(注视)
如:call→called(叫)stay→stayed(停留)cry→cried(哭)

在没有实义动词的句子中使用be动词,am,is的过去式为was;are的过去式为were.
1、肯定句:主语+was(were)+宾语
例:I was late yesterday.(昨天我迟到了。)
2、否定句:主语+was(were)+not+宾语
例:We weren't late yesterday.
3、疑问句:Was(Were)+主语+宾语
例:Were you ill yesterday?(你昨天病了吗?)
4、肯定回答:Yes, I was.
      否定回答:No, I wasn't.
例:When were you born?
一是时间状语巧:表示过去的短语要记牢;
二是形式巧:单数was,复数were;
三是否定句结构巧:not紧跟was/were;
例如:yesterday, last night/week/month/year, last Saturday, the day beforey esterday, in 1998, five years ago等。
I was in the classroom yesterday morning.
He was at school last Tuesday.
They were over there a moment ago.
与动词be的一般现在时一样,它在动词后面加not即可变成否定句,并且was, were与not可以缩写成wasn't, weren't。
I was not(=wasn't)here yesterday.
My parents were not(=weren't)at home last Sunday.
即:Was(Were)+主语+表语+其他?
Were you at home the day before yesterday?
Was she late this morning?
更巧的是疑问句的答语也相似,肯定回答用“Yes, 主语+was/were.”;否定回答用“No, 主语+wasn't/weren't.”。
例如:—Were Wei Hua and Han Mei here just now?
            —Yes, they were./No, they weren't.

One of the best exercises is swimming.
What pleases him most is bathing in the sea.
The situation both at home and abroad is very in-spiring.
The color is pleasing to the eye.
Our work is serving the people.
(=Serving the people is our work.)
        The news was disappointing.
What he said was very encouraging.
Our goal is realizing the four modernizations in the near future.
The story is the most fascinating.
如:His speech seems inspiring.
His interest is writing for the news papers.
(1)动名词作定语时,表示它所修饰的名词的性能和用途,和它所修饰的名词在逻辑上没有主谓关系;
如:a swimming girl=a girl who is swimming 一个在游泳的姑娘
a walking stick=a stick that is used for walking
The girl wearing glasses is one of his students.
I bought some reading materials.

Fighting broke out between the South and the North.
Would you mind turning down your radio a little, please?
The squirrel was lucky that it just missed being caught.
例如:admit to  prefer...to   burst out   keep on   insist on   count on   set about   put off   be good at   take up   give up   be successful in   be used to   lead to  devote oneself to   object to  stick to  no good   no use be fond of   look forward to  be proud of   be busy   can't help  be tired of   be capable of   be afraid of   think of
Her job is washing, cleaning and taking care of the children.
She is washing, cleaning and taking care of the children.
例如:a writing desk=a desk for writing 写字台
a swimming pool=a pool swimming 游泳池
例如:boiling point=a temperature point at which something begins to boil 沸点
a walking tractor=a tractor which a driver can operate while he or she is walking behind it 手扶拖拉机

1)too…to 太…
例如:He is too excited to speak.
        —Can I help you?
—Well, I'm afraid the box is too heavy for you to carryi t, but thank you all the same.
It's never too late to mend.
3)当too前面有only, all, but时,意思是:非常…等于very。
例如:I'm only too pleased to be able to help you.
He was but too eager to get home.
2、不定式的特殊句型so as to:
1)表示目的:它的否定式是so as not to do。
例如:Tom kept quiet about the accident so as not to lose his job.
Go in quietly so as not to wake the baby.
Would you be so kind as to tell me the time?
Why not:
Why not take a holiday?

enable encourage forbid force impel induce instruct invite like/love order permit make let have want get warn persuade request send tell train urge 等。
例如:Father will not allow us to play on the street.
The officer ordered his men to fire.
例如:consider find believe think declare(声称) appoint guess fancy(设想) guess judge imagine know 等。
例如:We believe him to be guilty.
We know him to be a fool.
Charles Babbage is generally considered___the first computer.
                    A. to invent
                    B. inventing
                    C. to have invented
                    D. having invented
3)有些动词可以跟there+to be的结构。例如:believe expect intend like love mean prefer want wish understand 等。
例如:We didn't expect there to be so many people there.
You wouldn't want there to be another war.
It's so nice to hear your voice.
It's necessary for you to lock the car when you do not use it.
It's very kind of you to help us.
It seemed selfish of him not to give them anything.
My work is to clean the room every day.
His dream is to be a doctor.
I have a lot of work to do.
There was nothing to bring home that morning.
1)目的状语:常用结构为to do,only to do(仅仅为了), in order to do,so as to do,so(such)...asto…(如此…
例如:He ran so fast as to catch the first bus.
I come here only to say good-bye to you.
I awoke to find my truck gone.
He searched the room only to find nothing.
I'm glad to see you.
She wept to see the sight.
He must be a fool to say so.
You will do well to speak more carefully.
You will do well to speak more carefully.

下面的to都用作介词:admit to  object to  beaccus to  med to  beused to  stick to  turn to开始 look forward to  be devoted to  pay attention to  contribute to apologize to devote oneself to

2)使役动词let,have,make后,感官动词see, watch, lookat, notice, observe, hear, listento, smell, feel, find等后。
例如:I saw him dance. =He was seen to dance.
The boss made them work the whole night. =They were made to work the whole night.
3)would rather,had better
4)Why…/why not…
5)help后可带to,也可不带to, help sb(to)do sth:
6)but和except后:
He wants to do nothing but go out.
He wants to believe anything but to take the medicine.
7)由and, or和than连接的两个不定式,第二个to可以省去:
8)通常在discover, imagine, suppose, think等词后作宾补时,可以省去to be。
例如:He is supposed(to be)nice.

Tell him not to shut the window。
She pretended not to see me when I passed by.
4、It's for sb. 和It's of sb.
1)for sb.
It's very hard for him to study two languages.
2)of sb句型中的形容词一般为表示性格,品德,心智能力,表示主观感情或态度的形容词,如good, kind, nice, clever, foolish, right。
例如:It's very nice of you to help me.
例如:You are nice.(通顺,所以应用of)。
            He is hard.(非所表达的意思,不通,因此用for。)

1、现在完成时的被动语态的肯定式为:have/has+been+done。
如:The new schools have been set up.
The experiment has been done successfully.
2、现在完成时的被动语态的否定式为:have/has+not+been+done。
如:The books have not been borrowed by the teacher.
Tom's novel has not been published.
如:—Have the letters been posted?
        —Yes, they have.
—Has his bike been repaired?
        —No, it hasn't.
How long have the machine been repaired?
        Who has been invited?

The room has already been cleaned.
The doctor hasn't been sent for yet.
The office looks nice. It has just been cleaned.
Such a thing has never been heard of before.
Recently the price of TV sets has been cut.
The machine has been repaired for two hours.
They have been helped by us for two weeks.
How long has the project been carried out?
