To everyone in the world, money was a sensitive topic.
No one can live with money in modern society. People
have different opinions on them. Some people think one should
live to make money, and others, make money to live.
In my opinion, the latter view will be more reasonable.
We should not be the slave of money. Although money
means a lot in our life, but it does not mean everything. We
cannot exchange it for friendship and love. Money indeed can
make a person enjoy his life for a while but all his life.
In a word, money is something but not anything.
    1. _____

人称代词在句中可以用作主语(用主格,如:I,you,he,she,we,they,等)和宾语(用宾格,如 me,you,him,her,us,them等)
如:He loves her, but she hates him.
        "Who is it?" "It's me."“是谁呀?”“是我。”
He sings better than me.
He is as tall as her.
It's me who did it.
He sings better than I do./ He is as tall as she is.
             "I' m tired.""Me too."“我累了。”
             "Who wants this?"
I like you better than he. I like you better than he likes you. 之略。
I like you better than him. I like you better than he likes him.

You, he and I are of the same age.
We, you and they are all good citizens.
I and Tom are to blame.
Tom and I hope to go there.

As soon as it had hopped off, the plane picked up speed.
As soon as the plane had hopped off, it picked up speed.)
These small desks are forus students.
We girls often go to the movies together.
He asked you boys to be quiet.

英语的不定代词有all, each, both, either, neither, one, none, little, few, many, much, other, another, some, any, no, few, little, both, enough, every等,以及由some, any,no和every构成的合成代词(即somebody, anyone, nothing等)。

1、so little与such little的区别:
用so little还是such little取决于little的意思:若表示数量方面的“少”,则用so little;若表示形状体积的“小”,则用such little:
如:He has so little time for reading.
I've never seen such little boxes.
2、some与any的用法区别:
Would you like some cake?
Why not buy some bread?
Shall I get some chalk for you?
如:Any colour will do.
Come any day you like.
3、many与much的用法区别:
两者都表示“许多”,但many修饰或代替可数名词(复数),与few(少数)相对;
Did you see many people there?
We don't have much time.
在肯定句中,一般用a lot of, lots of, plenty of 等代之。但在正式文体中有时也用于肯定句中;
另外,若用作主语或主语的定语,或其前有how, too, as, so, a good, a great等修饰,也可用于肯定句中:
如:Many of us left early.
Much work has been done.
You've given me too much.
Take as many(much) as you want.
I asked her a great many questions.
4、few, a few与little, a little的用法区别:
(1)few和a few后接可数名词的复数形式。few表示数量很少或几乎没有,强调“少”,含有否定意义;
It is very difficult, and few people understand it.
It is very difficult, but a few people understand it.
Unfortunately, I had little money on me.
Fortunately, I had a little money on me.
5、other, the other, another与others的用法区别:
(1)指单数时,若泛指用another,若特指用the other:
如:Give me another(one).
Shut the other eye, please.
(2)指复数时,若泛指用other(后接复数名词),若特指用the other(后接复数名词):
如:There are other ways of doing it.
Where have the other students gone?
Other people[Others] may not think that way.
He is cleverer than the others[the other students] in her class.
We need another few chairs.
In another two weeks it'll be finished.
(5)与some对比使用时,用others(此时与some同义):
如:Some say yes, and others say no. 有人说对,有人说不对。

有些不定代词用于指两者(如both, either, neither),有的不定代词用于指三者(如all, any, none, every),注意不要弄混:
如:Both of my parents are doctors.
All of the students are interested in it.
There are trees on any side of the square.
He has two sons, neither of whom is rich.
He has three sons, none of whom is rich.

There is nothing wrong with the radio.
Have you seen anyone[anybody] famous?
但在非正式文体中常用复数代词they, them, their:
如:Everyone knows this, doesn't he[don't they]?
If anybody[anyone] comes, ask him[them] to wait.
Everything is ready, isn't it?
(4)anyone, everyone等只能指人,不能指物,且其后一般不接of 短语。若是指物或后接of 短语,可用any one, every one(分开写):
如:any one of the boys(books) 孩子们(书)当中的任何一个(本)
every one of the students(schools)

3、是any not还是not any:
Anyone doesn't know how to do it.
正:No one knows how to do it.
Anybody[Anyone] can not do it.
正:Nobody[Noone] can do it.
Anything can not prevent me from going.
正:Nothing can prevent me from going.

不定代词all, both, every等与not连用时构成部分否定;若要表示完全否定,则需换用none, neither, no one等。
比较:All of the students like the novel.
Not all of the students like the novel.
All of the students don't like the novel.
None of the students like the novel.

5、all, both, each等用作同位语:
We have all read it.
The villages have all been destroyed.
They told us all to wait there.
They told the men all to wait there.

例1:—Is____here?
—No, Bob and Tim have asked for leave.
A. anybody
B. everybody
C. somebody
D. nobody

2:I agree with most of what you said, but I don't agree with_____.
A. everything
B. anything
C. something
D. nothing

3:—Doyouhave_____athomenow,Mary?
—No, we still have to get some fruit and tea.
A. something
B. anything
C. everything
D. nothing

4:—If you want a necklace, I'll buy one for you at once.
—Oh, no. A necklace is not_____that I need most.
A. anything
B. something
C. nothing
D. everything

形容词是用来修饰名词的,常被放在名词前作定语,或放在系动词后面作表语。以下属几种特殊情况,须牢记;
如:a language difficult to master,
a leaning tower about 180 feet high
如a man alive。
(3)用作定语,修饰由不定代词one、no、any、some和every构成的复合词如anything、something等时,通常后置。
如:I have something important to tell you.
(4)else
(6)几个并列的形容词作定语,其语序通常为:限定语(The、A)+描绘性形容词+size(大小)+shape(形状)+age(年龄、时间)+color(颜色)+origin(国籍、来源)+material(材料)+purpose(目的)+名词。

如:a heavy black Chinese steel umbrella,
the man's first tow interesting little red French oil paintings

这类词还有:well,unwell,ill,faint,afraid,alike,alive,alone,asleep,awake等。

如:the dead,the living,the rich,the poor,the blind,the hungry The poorarelosinghope.
如:the British, the English, the French, the Chinese. The English have wonderful senseofhumor.

She sang lovely.
(错)He spoke to me very friendly.
Her singing was lovely.
(对)He spoke to me in a very friendly way.
daily,weekly,monthly,yearly,early .
如:The Times is a daily paper.
        The Times is published daily.

We discussed about the plan.
正:We discussed the plan.
Did he mention about the accident?
正:Did he mention the accident?
I saw her enter into the bank.

误:We should serve for the people heart and soul.
正:We should serve the people heart and soul.
Who controls over the factory?
正:Who controls the factory?
He has a great many of friends here. (比较a great number of)
正:He has a great many friends here.

This matter is difficult to deal. (deal with=处理)
正:This matter is difficult to deal with.
He is not a man to be depended.
正:He is not a man to be depended on.
He took a cup of tea, and went on the story.
正:He took a cup of tea, and wentonwiththestory.
My mother still regards me a child. (比较consider…as中的as可省略)
正:My mother still regards me as a child.
They insisted sending a car over to fetch us.
正:They insisted on sending a car over to fetch us.

如:and, but, or, nor, so, therefore, yet, however, for, hence, as well as, both...and, notonly...butalso, either...or, neither...nor, (and)then 等等。

1)and与or:
They sat down and talk about something.
They started to dance and sang.
I saw two men sitting behind and whisper there.
They sat down and talked about something.
They started to dance and sing.
I saw two men sitting behind and whispering there.
Make up your mind, and you'll get the chance.=If you make up your mind, you'll get the chance.
One more effort, and you'll succeed.=If you make one more effort, you'll succeed.
2)both...and 两者都
如:She plays(both) the piano and the guitar.
3)not only...but(also), as well as 不但…而且
如:She plays not only the piano, but(also) the guitar.
注意:not only…but also关联两个分句时,一个分句因有否定词not而必须倒装。
如:Not only does he like reading stories, but also he can even write some.
Neither you nor he is to blame.

比较so和such :

so还可与表示数量的形容词many,few,much,little连用,形成固定搭配。
构成:so+adj.
            such+a(n)+n.
            so+adj.+a(n)+n.
            such+n.(pl.)
            so+adj.+n.(pl.)
            such+n.(pl.)
            so+adj.+n.[不可数]
            such+n.[不可数]
如:so foolish
        such a fool
        so nice a flower
        such a nice flower
        so many/few flowers
        such nice flowers
        so much/ little money.
        such rapid progress
        so many people
        such a lot of people
:so many 已成固定搭配,a lot of 虽相当于many,但a lot of为名词性的,只能用such搭配。 so...that与such...that之间的转换既为so与such之间的转换。

I must work hard, or I'll fail in the exam.
Either you or I am right.
Some people love cats, while others hate them.
—Would you like to come to dinner tonight?
—I'd like to, ___ I'm too busy.
    A. and
    B. so
    C. as
    D. but
2)not...but...
They were not the bones of an animal, but(the bones) of a human being.
For he is ill, he is absent today.
(对)He is absent today, for he is ill.  for是并列连词,不能置于含两个并列分句的句子的句首,只能将其放在两个分句中间。

There is no air and no water on the moon.

—I don't like chicken___fish.
—I don't like chicken, ___I like fish very much.
A. and;and
B. and;but
C. or;but
D. or;and

例如:Columbus proved that the earth is round.
I don't want so much.
Ann writes good English but does not speak well.
Now I put the sugar in the cup.
I am doing my homework now.

The train leaves at six tomorrow morning.
—When does the bus star?
—It stars in ten minutes. ?
Here comes the bus.=The bus is coming.
There goes the bell.=The bell is ringing.
例如:When Bill comes(不是will come), ask him to wait for me.
I'll write to you as soon as I arrive there.
4)在动词hope, take care that, make sure that 等的宾语从句中。
例如:I hope they have a nice time next week.
Make sure that the windows are closed before you leave the room.
When, while, before, fter, till, once, as soon as, so long as, by the time, if, in case(that), unless, even if, whether, the moment, the minute, the day, the year, immediately等引导的时间状语从句,条件句中,用一般现在时代替将来时。
例如:He is going to visit her aunt the day he arrives in Beijing.
The news paper says that it's going to be cold tomorrow.
Napoleon's army now advances and the great battle begins.
I hear(=haveheard)he will go to London.
            I forget(=have forgotten)how old he is.
2)用句型"It is…since…"代替"It has been…since…"。
例如:It is(=has been)five years since we last met.
在Here comes…/There goes…
例如:There goes the bell.

At that time, people did not know that the earth moves.
He told me last week that he is eighteen.
He thought that I need not tell you the truth.

比较while/as/when:

Just as/Just when/When I stopped my car, a man came up to me.
When you have finished your work, you may have a rest.
As the day went on, the weather got worse.

比较untill/till

肯定句例句:I slept until midnight.
Wait till I call you.
Let's get in the wheat before the sunsets.
She didn't arrive until 6o'clock.
I didn't manage to do it until you had explained how.
Until you told me, I had heard nothing of what happened.
Until when are you staying?
1)Not until…
Not until the early years of the19th century did man know what heat is.
2)It is not until…that…

表示时间的状语从句可由when, as, while, whenever, after, before, till(until), since, once, as soon as(或the moment), by the time, no sooner…than, hardly(scarcely)… when, everytime等引导。
e.g. When I came into the office, the teachers were having a meeting.
He started as soon as he received the news.
Once you see him, you will never forget him.
No sooner had I gone to bed than I went to sleep.
e.g. He is disappointed because he didn't get the position.
As it is raining, I will not go out.
Now that you mention it, I do remember.
e.g. Sit wherever you like.
Make a mark where you have a question.
引导目的状语从句最常用的词(组)是so, so that(从句谓语常有情态动词), in order that, in case(以防,以免)等。
e.g. Speak clearly, so that they may understand you.
She has bought the book in order that she could follow the TV lessons.
He left early in case he should miss the train.
由so that(从句谓语一般没有情态动词),so…that, such…that等引导。
e.g. She was ill, so that she didn't attend the meeting.
He was so excited that he could not say a word.
She is such a good teacher that everyone admires her.
引导条件状语从句的词(组)主要有if, unless, so(as)long as, on condition that, so(as) far as, if only(=if)。
e.g. If he is not in the office, he must be out for lunch.
You may borrow the book so long as you keep it clean.
So far as I know(据我所知), he will be away for three months.
You can go swimming on condition that(=if) you don't go too far away from the river bank.
If he had come a few minutes earlier, he could have seen her.
让步状语从句可由although, though, as, even if(though), however, whatever, whether…or, no matter who(when, what,…)
e.g. Though he is a child, he knows a lot.
Child a she is, he knows a lot.
Whatever(=No matter what) you say, I'll never change my mind.
方式状语从句常由as, as if(though), the way, rather than等引导。
e.g.You must do the exercise as I show you.
He acted as if nothing had happened.
比较状语从句常用than, so(as)…as, the more…the more等引导。
e.g. I have made a lot more mistakes than you have.
He smokes cigarettes as expensive as he can afford.
The busier he is, the happier he feels.

e.g. We'll go outing if it doesn't rain tomorrow.
I'll write to you as soon as I get to Shanghai.
e.g. When(hewas) still a boy of ten, he had to work day and night.
If(you are) asked you may come in.
If(it is) necessary I'll explain to you again.
e.g. You are to find it where you left it.(地点状语从句)
Tell me the address where he lives.(定语从句,句中有先行词)
       I don't know where he came from.(宾语从句)
Where he has gone is not known yet.(主语从句)
This place is where they once hid.(表语从句)
的结构 hardly/scarcely…when/before/no sooner…than和as soon as都可以表示“一…就…”
例句:I had hardly/scarcely got home when it began to rain.
I had no sooner got home than it began to rain.
As soon as I got home, it began to rain.
Hardly/Scarcely had I got home when it began to rain.
No sooner had I got home than it began to rain.
