带词尾s的单数,通常仍加’s,如the boss’s new car
例如:a friend of my father’s 我父亲的一位朋友
a photo of mine
Tom and Jack’s room
This notebook is not mine, nor John’s, nor Peter’s.
The dictionary isn’t mine, but Jenny’s.
Before Christmas, there were lots of customers at the Richarsons’.
the doctor’s(office)医生的诊所
my uncle’s(house)我叔叔的家
Mr Smith’s son = the son of Mr Smith
Jim’s patience = the patience of Jim
the Queen’s arrival = the arrival of the Queen
Mary’s husband, a policeman, has just been here.
①用于无生命的事物时:the subject of the sentence 句子主语
Times New Roman'; mso-ascii-font-family: 'Times New Roman'
②表同位关系时:the City of Beijing 北京市
③当中心词是名词化的名词时:the life of the poor 穷人的生活
of Mr Smith is a foreign teacher of a university in China.
1.She is Mary's brother's friend.
2.She is a friend of Mary's brother.
3.She is a friend of Mary's brother's.
what, who, whose, whom, which, whatever, whichever, whoever, whomever
what, which, whose还可作限定词。
Whose books are these on the desk?
What was the directional flow of U. S. territorial expansion?
What events led to most of the east of the Mississippi River becoming part of the United States?
指 人: who, whom, whose
指 物: what
Which girls do you like best?
What girls do you like best?
Who(m) did you meet on the street?
Who(m) are you taking the book to?
To whom did you speak on the campus?
For what do most people live and work?
What are you looking for?
I can't make out what he is driving at.
Can you tell me whose is the blue shirt on the bed?
Much of what you say I agree with, but I cannot go all the way with you.

a red flower一朵红花
six blind men 六个盲人
my own house我自己的房子
She has something new to tell me.
I have nothing important to do today.
Do you know anybody else here?
It is a problem difficult to work out.
Edison is a student difficult to teach.
This is a kind of flowers easy to grow.
All people, young or old, should be strict with themselves.
We are building a new school, modern and super.
All countries, rich and poor, should help one another.
Do you have enough time(time enough)to prepare?
Maybe it will be a possible chance(chance possible)for you.
This river is about 100 metres wide.
The building is more than 50 metres tall.
He is less than 40 years old.
8. enough
They said that they had enough food.= They said that they had food enough.
He is old enough to join the army.
He isn’t old enough to go to school.
what/who/where/when/when else
something/anything/nothing…else
What else did you do?
Do you have anything else to say?
This is the book easy to read.
hard—harder—hardest ;long-longer-longest
nice-nicer-nicest
early—earlier—earliest
5.部分双音节词和多音节词分别在原级前加more构成比较级和most构成最高级, carefully—more carefully—most carefully
well | better | best |
badly | worse | worst |
much | more | most |
little | less | lest |
far | farther(指距离) | farthest(指距离) |
further(指距离和抽象概念) | furthest(指距离和抽象概念) |
My classmates are very kind and helpful.
How kind and helpful my classmates are!
例如:China is a peaceful country.
What a peaceful country China is!
1.以副词here, there, in开头的感叹句。
Here comes the bus!
There they are!
Who else will read such a book!
May you both be happy!
May you succeed!
Aren’t they sweet!
I am hungry!
Dear me! My goodness!
None of your nonsense!
Just my luck!
Sorry, my mistake!
As if were my fault!
To think a scandal of this sort should be going on under my roof!
